Transport Infrastructure – Roads and footpaths between Pilning and Severn Beach.

Present situation

The footbridge over the M49 is poorly lit, difficult to negotiate as it is very steep and the footpath on either side poor for late night use.

There is no direct road access between the two villages.

New footpaths and roads with railway proposal 1

The Railway station in to the middle of Severn Beach is lost. The land being available for development.

New footpaths to link up separate areas. All are dual use as cycle paths

New direct and graded road to the A403 with footpath alongside

A403 downgraded in size by weight and vehicle restrictions.

New stations and rail line

The new Severn Beach Station is also closer to the Western approaches.

The line north of the new Pilning Station would need to be raised above the road level to exclude the need for road level crossings.

Roads with new proposal 3

If this new rail line was built on an embankment it would create a natural northern boundary for industrial development. The route would need three crossing points over roads and motorway.
